This I personally felt should've been left untouched the silent protagonist made you more immersed in the experience since you felt you were Isaac instead of just playing a character, but if you're gonna give a guy a personality at least do it right. There were some questionable choices like giving the Isaac a voice. It's true you cant recreate the first time you seen a necromorph or dismembered one because it already happened but DS 2 could've been a much better game. So why, lets delve into this DS 2 improved in every way technically but it was stripped from its roots, its personality wasn't fully there (Guess mom was right when she said looks isnt everything). All this was done well and Visceral made a bold statement with Dead Space, so did they manage to keep upĭead space 2 was a game that improved on dead space in almost every way technically (better graphics, smoother combat, less backtracking) However you still have many people including myself saying "it was a great game but it wasn't quite like the first dead space". Dead space also introduced some new concepts like dismemberment(forget the headshot) as well as no hud to completely immerse you in the experience. You didnt fight with weapons you used engineering tools. But what it's remembered for is it's rich atmosphere, isolation and the fact that you were a regular guy not some military shooter trapped in a horrible situation. Sure it had some flaws like mundane mission tasks, backtracking, and some wobbly kinesis.
Yet it still managed to get critical acclaim and mainly positive reviews.
It was an independent project in a genre that the video game world doesn't show too much love. So lets talk about Dead space 1(which to this day is my favorite game)Dead space built a bold identity for itself the first game. I am a big fan of the dead space series(mainly the first one) so I wanted to discuss how the series has progressed.and maybe even gotten worse
